What is it to Wait?

“I am waiting for something, and it’s not coming. And I’ve had times when I feel bullied, tortured, and disturbed because of it.”—an Imago Dei Woman

Coming together.

We are wrestling with Christ, shouting out our dreams deferred, our bitter tears, our years of pain, our hopes once raised, now lost.
We’re crying out what we want, together. We’re crying out what we don’t have, together.

“DID YOU JUST FORGET ABOUT ME, GOD?” we say.

And then we droop, exhausted.
Done and numb, we pant softly, regaining our breath and waiting for Christ to answer. Stillness follows. And then…peace?

Coming together.
We’re prayerfully hoping Christ will redeem the sorrow we hold in waiting. We’re yearning: hoping that in sharing our stories with each other, with our voices raised to him, a quiet tranquility will wash over us, and through us. And out of the voices raised in anguish, the still, small voice of God will be revealed.

Turn in praise....
